Peace is one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus. Rotary members work on the root causes of conflict, train peacebuilders and help communities stay peaceful, one conversation at a time.

Rotary works on the conditions that lead to conflict, including poverty, discrimination, ethnic tension, lack of access to education and the unequal distribution of resources. Rotary believes local action adds up:

Rotary’s peace partner, the Institute for Economics & Peace, defines Positive Peace as “the attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful societies.” Its research found eight factors that peaceful countries share.

Fully funded fellowships for leaders working on peace. Since 2002, Rotary has trained more than 1,900 fellows who now work in over 140 countries. Rotary offers up to 170 fellowships a year at its peace centers: master’s degrees and a one-year professional certificate.
